The Business License Tax Unit of the Treasurer-Tax Collector's Office is primarily responsible for enforcing collection of business license taxes and issuing licenses to persons engaged in certain business activities in the unincorporated areas of Tulare County as prescribed by the Tulare County Ordinance Chapter 6-03-1000. The Business License Tax Unit provides the following services: Collect Business License Tax and issue licenses for certain businesses in unincorporated areas Audit gross receipts records of selected businesses Apply court actions to obtain judgment for non-lienable delinquent taxes and bad checks Receive and deposit business license tax collection Skip trace to locate subcontractors Attend appeal hearings to present facts
