Detention's Visiting Information

VISITING RESUMED TO REGULAR SCHEDULE

Effective Saturday, May 9, 2009, Sheriff Bill Wittman will resumed the normal visiting schedules for all of the Tulare County Jails.

As a precautionary measure, Sheriff Bill Wittman temporarily suspend visiting to all of the Tulare County Jails from May 3 through May 10, 2009. The decision was made to assist in minimizing the possible exposure of the potential flu virus - H1N1 (Swine Flu) to the inmate population, their families, jail staff, volunteers and the public. The action was taken in accordance with information provided by Health and Human Services Agency, Dr. Karen Haught. Questions regarding the actual virus or reported cases are to be directed to the Health and Human Services Agency.

The Tulare County Sheriff’s Department has not had a reported case of the flu virus - H1N1 (Swine Flu) to date.

The Department will continue to monitor the facilities and the information provided by the Health and Human Services Agency regarding the virus. The Department will also maintain the Spanish and English phone numbers that will provide a voice message regarding the status of visiting at the detention facilities as well as link titled “Detentions Visiting” on our web page at www.tularesheriff.info.

Currently there are approximately 1560 inmates housed in Tulare County Jails. This does not include the number of inmates that are currently participating in the Sheriff’s Work Alternative Program, Day Reporting Center and Weekender Program.

  • Men’s Correctional Facility - 366
  • Day Reporting Center /Sheriff’s Work Alternative Program/Weekender Program - varies 70 to 190

The Sheriff’s Department is taking the recommended precautionary measures set forth by the Tulare County Health and Human Services Agency at all of the departments workstations and facilities. This information is also being provided to all inmates and will be posted at each location for the public. Information regarding the actual swine flu issues are being handled by the Tulare County Health and Human Services Agency.
