

2009 Tulare County Employee of the Year

Gloria Simoes, a Tulare County Fire Department emergency dispatch supervisor, has been selected the 2009 Tulare County Employee of the Year. More than 120 County of Tulare employees were nominated from 15 departments. Gloria Simoes is the first Tulare County Fire Department employee to be recognized as the employee of the year. The Tulare County Fire Department was created in 2006.
Tulare County Fire Chief Steve Sunderland said Simoes was nominated for her willingness to take on additional duties such as updating databases, scheduling maintenance, ordering supplies, fulfillling duties of an emergency dispatcher, and more.
"Ms. Simoes takes her job very seriously and she frequently goes the extra mile to ensure that the citizens and visitors of Tualre County get the 9-1-1 dispatching service they pay for and deserve," Chief Sunderland said. "Gloria is an employee that gives true meaning to the words dependable and trustworthy."
A Tulare County emergency dispatch supervisor plans, directs and supervises the work of a unit of emergency dispatchers in transmitting and monitoring radio messages, performing 9-1-1 and telephone operations, and operates teletype systems.
Simoes, a Tipton resident, has worked for the County of Tulare for more than eight years.
Tulare County employes approximately 4,200 employees.
